Asset Management Tab
The Asset Management tab allows authorized users to define many of the asset management defaults. To access the tab in Company FM Settings, go to Maintenance > Financial Management > Company FM Settings.

The Interfaces section contains the applications with which Asset Management interfaces.
- Select the General Ledger check box if Asset Management should interface with the general ledger and allow journal entries from the asset module to be sent to the general ledger. This check box is selected by default. If the check box is not selected, all transactions stay within the asset sub ledger and Asset Management is used as a stand-alone tracking module.
- Select the Parcel Management check box to interface Asset Management with the Community Development module and allows users to assign parcel numbers to different pieces of land acquired. This check box is not selected by default.

The Asset Defaults section contains the general application maintenance options.
- Select the System Assigned Numbers check box if asset numbers will be automatically assigned by the system. If not selected, users will assign a unique number to each asset.
- The Next Asset Number value is the next available number to use when the system automatically numbers the assets. It is enabled and required when System Assigned Numbers is selected. If the System Assigned Numbers check box is cleared, the Next Asset Number box is disabled. The system, however, continues to maintain the next available asset number. Valid entries are 1 through 99999999.
- Selecting the Enable Auto-Assign G/L Distribution Profile Functionality check box enables the ability to pre-select the G/L Distribution Profile settings for assets so they do not have to be selected by the end-user when adding, editing, or transferring an asset.

The Asset Journal Batch Processing Options section defines the defaults used for processing asset journal batches.
- Select a Centralized Asset Management Department, which is required if the General Ledger check box is selected. If one department is responsible for recording/depreciating assets, each time an asset journal is created the system defaults in the department selected here.
If entered, all journals from the sub ledger will be assigned to this central department. If not defined, the post may make multiple journals, one for each department specified on a receipt batch.
- The Validation and Approval Sequence box displays the method to be used when validating and approving assets. The available options are:
- Require Approvals for Validation–If selected, the asset must be fully approved before it can be validated.
- Require Validation for Approvals–If selected, the asset must be validated before it can be approved.
- Require No Dependencies–If selected, added assets can be validated and approved in any sequence.
After you enter all of the appropriate options, click Save to store these settings.
